CORPORATE YACHT FOR SALE
1993 Catalina CAPRI 22 -- HEELING THERAPY
The Capri 22 is a great boat, and HEELING THERAPY is the best of breed. Take a look at her (Lake Nockamixon, slip M-34) and you’ll see that not only is she in pristine condition, but that she’s also been tweaked and modified in order to maximize sailing performance.
Note the routing of all lines into the cockpit for single-handed sailing, the various winches/controls, the high-end traveler, etc. On the bow you’ll see the roller-furling jib and an extending, articulating sprit for handling the asymmetric spinnaker (also fully controlled from the cockpit).
What you can’t see from the dock is the custom bulb keel (raises for trailering), and the full suite of sails. The roller-furling jib and two of the mains (performance and killer-performance) are top-end North/Benson products, plus you have the original main (with reef points) for those nasty days. I also have a very large (150% ?) Genoa stored at home that I’ve never used.
HEELING THERAPY comes with all of the sails mentioned, a porta-potty (hey – my wife likes to sail), trailer (excellent shape), electronic compass, and 5-hp Mercury outboard.
ISSUES TO CONSIDER:
HEELING THERAPY is set up for performance and is a blast to sail, but that also entails a good bit of work on your part. Don’t let it scare you – she’s amazingly stable and forgiving, but if your favorite part of sailing is kicking back and watching the clouds roll by this may not be the boat for you.
-
The Mercury is an amazing engine – starts every time on the second pull and runs great, but I’ve noticed that I have to squeeze the bulb periodically to keep fuel flowing.
-
There’s a minor crack at the transom as a result of a loose motor mount. I’ve fixed it and beefed up the mount, so I don’t think it will be a problem going forward.
-
The speed/depth readout died this year (don’t need it so didn’t fix it).
